Great Productivity Apps for College Students

Whether you’re just starting college or have been on campus for a while, you can benefit by leveraging the right technology. At CaptureApps, we’re focused on productivity tools, and in college, you have different ways you can be productive and successful. With millions of apps to distract, confuse and overwhelm you, we thought it would be helpful to share a few productivity apps for college students that we think can help you do better in school.

iStudiez Lite (or Pro)

When it comes to juggling all the different classes and assignments, you can benefit from having a repository “calendar view” of what lies ahead.

Taking Notes

CaptureAudio for iPhone (or CaptureNotes for iPad)
CaptureAudio and CaptureNotes can help you take notes better – with audio recordings of class lectures or project meetings, including flags to mark the critical tasks, you’re miles ahead of hand-written or laptop notes.

Completing Projects

Scanner Mini
A real time-saver is being able to take a picture of a document and turn it into an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file. Think about copying a classmate’s hand-written notes, a news article or a handout you never received.

Trello delivers an organized approach to doing group projects with your classmates. We use Trello daily, and it’s a powerful tool for collaboration and tracking progress.

Pocket gives you an easy way to save articles, videos and more for review later. Why email yourself when you can click and stick the item in your pocket?

Pomodoro Time
When it’s time to focus Time, consider the Pomodoro Technique. Pomodoro is a method of working in 25 blocks, then taking a 5-minute break, and then continuing for another 25 minutes. Each work interval is called a “pomodoro”. Make it a personal game – set a daily study pomodoro goal and track your progress!

When preparing for tests, flashcards are an excellent tool. We’ve written about the Cornell Method previously, which also gives you a framework to feed the app.
